Capturing

So I captured a Varuna and farmed the hell out of it, and finally got my Malleable Wand and Tetra Ring, and did a TON of capturing to customize my staff with [One MP Cost], [Zombiestrike], [Evade & Counter], and [Magic Counter], as well as my ring having [Auto Haste], [Stoneproof], [Auto Potion], and [Zombieproof]. With this, I went to fight Sin.

Airship
Left Fin and Right Fin were bouts of casting Holy, as was the Sinspawn and Core. Afterwards, I saved and went in for Overdrive Sin. I felt slightly tense, but when it came down to it, it was just some odd castings of Holy and he was gone. I went inside Sin.

Inside Sin
Going inside Sin, I put on a No Encounters armor I made for myself so I could stay sane getting the Teleport Sphere in the Omega Ruins and ran right through to Seymour Omnis. For Omnis, I basically cast Shell and Holy'd him until he too finally went. I left.

Final Preperation
I visited the temples and got all of the treasure I could, and threw it all on the Sphere Grid. After selling my Potions and Hi-Potions, I went back to face Braska's Final Aeon (after going through hell collecting those damn gems. I am so out of practice with that).

Final Battle
It was kind of tense, just by principle of it being the final boss and not wanting to re-watch the cutscenes. I cast Protect and Auto-Life just to be safe (though I ended up not needing it) and went to work. I cast Holy a TON, made sure I was at 100% health every time he reached Overdrive, and gave it my very, very careful all. Finally, I lay the finishing blow.

The follow up battles were, of course, very easy.

Every time I do a single-character challenge, I always somehow feel closer to the character and love them even more. I didn't think it was quite possible, but my love for Yuna grew even stronger.

Thank you for the amazing journey, Yunie. Love ya.

------------

YUNA ASSESMENT (once again, my opinions)

Overall Best Line: "The people we have lost, or the dreams that have faded... never forget them."- Ending

Funniest Line: "Wanna scream?"- Yuna to Tidus in Luca

Saddest Line: "I love you"- Ending

Best Acted Line: "Mmm, what is it today? Everyone's picking on me!"- Outside the Temple of Djose

Most Memorable Line: "I will live with my sorrow, I will live my own life! I will defeat sorrow in his place. I will stand my ground and be strong! I don't know when it will be, but someday, I will conquer it. And I will do it without false hope."- Pre Yunalesca Battle

Overall Best Scene: The Sending

Cutest Scene: The Laughing Scene

Saddest Scene: When Yuna says goodbye to Tidus at the end

Most Memorable Scene: Suteki da Ne?

Funniest Scene: Coming out of the Temple of Djose when Yuna sleeps in late

------------

YONSOSG OVERALL DIFFICULTY:
7/10
1 - Very easy
10 - Impossible
* The challenge actually got easier as time went on. As in, the later in the game, the easier it tended to be. One of the main reasons the challenge ranks so high, though, is that it is a true test in patience. Seriously.

Macalania - Continued
I finally got Holy and battled Spherimorph. It was a rather boring fight, but hey. I ended up using the safe route since I didn't feel like paying attention, and got him caught in a Thunder loop and just attacked him with normal weapons and my Lightningproof Ring. Afterwards, I fought through all the story until I finally got to Seymour. Holy took care of him and Anima rather quickly. I never knew the Guado automatically died if Seymour was defeated. Luckily, Anima used Holy on Kimahri, so everything afterwards was easy pickins. Afterwards, I got the Destruction Sphere, named Shiva to Ann, and left.

Bikanel
This place was more annoying than anything. I ran through and got all the treasure, running away from every single monster battle. Home was a challenge without having done any prepwork, but I eventually made it through everything, thanks mostly to Rikku and Shooting Star. I realized when I got to the last battle that I severely needed Shadow Gems, so I had to go back and get those. I barely won the battle, but everybody worked as a team!

Airship / Bevelle
Evrae wasn't too bad. I mixed Trio and had Lulu use Fury. The battles afterwards were a bit tricky, but nothing I couldn't handle, of course! It just took a little bit of fanagling my overdrives and beating the crap out of the monsters manually. Bahamut is now Erin. Afterwards, I got stuck in Via Purifico. On Yuna's side, it was a simple matter of running around, gaining Sphere Levels, and casting Holy. I got the Lucid Ring too, which was really helpful. Isaaru's aeons were ridiculously easy. I mean, Bahamut's normal attack on Shiva did 16,000+ damage. On Tidus's side, I just swam though, Phoenix Down'd Evrae Atlanta, went on my merry way. Seymour Nautus was quite easy. I just equipped my Stoneproof ring, Evade & Counter weapon, and cast Holy until I was blue in the face.

Macalania
Honestly, I don't even pay attention anymore.

Calm Lands
I did some monster capturing and put Deathstrike on my Capture weapon, and I also trained a chocobo and did the Remiem Chocobo Race, opening up five chests for the sixty Three Stars so that I could have One MP Cost early. That was a royal pain, but it got done. Defender X was a little bit troublesome, but with a little luck, I took 'em down. My strategy basically consisted of recklessly using Holy with my brand new One MP Cost weapon. I love that particular weapon, it's [Magic +10%], [Evade & Counter], and [One MP Cost]. Beautiful.

Mount Gagazet
Biran and Yenke battle was easy, I got Ronso Rages for the hell of it. I ran through, grabbing plenty of treasure. Seymour Flux wasn't too bad, took a little fanagaling but not awful. I basically just watched his Reflect status, cured once in a while, and used Holy. I did the trials on Gagazet, and went to face Sanctuary Keeper. He was pretty easy, I equipped my normal One MP Cost weapon and cast Holy. I then captured a Mandragora and battled it repeatedly for Berserk Ward, during which time I got so many sphere levels that I got Auto-Life. Afterwards, I went onto Zanarkand.

Zanarkand
I ran through, getting treasure and maiming beasts, and did the trials. With Berserk Ward, Spectral Keeper wasn't too too bad, just glyph-hopping and Holy casting. Lady Yunalesca was harder when I actually tried than when I just recklessly fired off Holy. My strategy for her basically consisted of ensuring that I had Auto-Life on at all times and throwing off as many Holy spells as Yuna could handle. After her speech, I got on the airship.

Airship
This is the point where the challenge turned sour. I suddenly realized... holy shit, I totally forgot to talk to Wantz on Mount Gagazet.

So now I don't get any blank four slot armour. So here's what I have to do:

Farm a four-slotted Zombiestrike weapon from Sinspawn Genias. This is the only place I can get one. Jesus Christ, I'm going to hate this.

Now for armour, I can either farm a four-slotted stoneproof weapon from Sin's Fins (sucky and long per single battle) or capture an Adamantoise and farm it for an empty four-slotted armor (sucky and comparatively short per single battle.)

God, why me. Why of all things did I forget to talk to Wantz.

Kill me.

YONSOSG: Real Update

December 29th, 2008 (01:39 am)
chipper

current song: Let's Play Luigi's Mansion

So, after much ado and putting about 60 hours on my game clock, I finally got Reflect! It was a gigantic pain, fo' shore, but I'm glad I did it, actually, because progress is good!

Sinspawn Gui took a LONG time, but hey, he's dead! It's basically him Reflecting Thunder off himself and staying alive. One time I wasn't paying attention and got him down to ~2000 (or this was the second form) and I died.... ew. Beat him, though. This time, just to switch things up, I let Gatta live. (For the record, I like Luzzu better.) I collected all of my free stuff from the people walking on the road to Djose and, after about ten minutes, got a Stonestrike weapon with one free slot from a Basalisk. I went to Djose and got the Destruction Sphere and Ixion, who was named Diana, and went to the Moonflow.

I traversed down the Moonflow and challenge/flee'd from Belgemine. I had a pretty easy battle with Extractor (it was a touch harder since I hadn't done a NSG-esque battle in a while, but it wasn't too bad) and met up with Rikku. I used Power Spheres instead of the Bomb Cores for her mix, went through the story (eeeeurgh, I really wish there was a Skip Scene option) and got the Lightning Marbles and customized Lightningproof onto Yuna's Soft Ring. Additionally, I got a Fatal Cait Sith for Lulu for our time on Bikanel. That and my Stonestrike weapon were equipped while I went onto the Thunder Plains.

On the Thunder Plains, I went through a little grief to dodge 100 bolts and collected my prizes. The battles there aren't too bad with the Stonestrike weapon, at least. After dodging the 100 bolts, I ran into Macalania.

I ran through Macalania, and realized I have Spherimorph next. And since Macalania gives the best bang-for-the-buck AP wise, now I have to powerlevel to get Holy.

...

But I just got done grinding! Well, here we go again!

Kilika
I eventually said "Screw this" to getting a drop from Sin and proceeded to Kilika. After the scenes, I spent quite a bit of time in Kilika getting a Poisontouch and Poisonward weapon & armor for Yuna >>; It took such a long time but I finally got them. I took down Sinspax Geneaux and his two tentacles, did the trials, and left. Ifrit is now "Colleen".

S.S. Winno
I got the Jecht Shot.

Luca
I stuck around and farmed the workers for X-Potions. After I got 50, I killed Oblitzerator and went to the Blitzball match, which I won :P I listened to the laughing scene because it's cute and went onto Mi'ihen, where I stopped.

YONSOSG Started

awake

current location: Couch
current mood: awake
current song: Staring at the Sun

Okay, so I started a YONSGOSG. Called "Yawns" by some people xD

Dream Zanarkand
Same ol' same ol'.

Baaj Temple
Compiled primers, got treasure, lots of the norm.

Al Bhed Salvage Ship
Killed Tros easy. Went on to Besaid.

Besaid
Got the Moon Crest and all the extra goodies. Got Valefor and named her Maggie. Too bad I can't use her :( I killed a few monsters to gain sphere levels and then I went on to the S.S. Liki

S.S. Liki
I went through the story events and right now I'm on Sin's Fin. The thing is, I'm drophunting for a Water Ward or Waterstrike weapon. The person who kills the enemy has a 40% higher chance of getting the drops. There's a long scene before this so I'll probably be on the Liki for a long time :(

Zanarkand
Yeah, so it's been forever since I updated, but...lessee if I can remember what I did.
Yunalesca was my normal strategy, but because of some royal screw-ups I had to watch the intro scene, like, five times. It was basically a Trio with a Gem for the first form, Slice n Dice for the second form, and Fury for the third.

Airship
The fins weren't bad. I had to throw Auron a Light Curtain and have him defend and such, but it only took one or two tries to get them down. Genias was a little tricky, and I got KOed once when I got negligent, but it was otherwise not bad. Overdrive Sin was a cinch, just took a Fury and some gems.

Inside Sin
I went to go take a crack at Seymour Omnis. He was pretty easy, it just took a Trio, Slice n Dice, and a normal attack. I drop hunted him and got an armor for Wakka with SOS Haste. I took some cracks at BFA, but they all ended in faliure. So I went out to do stuff.

Preperation
I did Monster Capturing and gladly reaped the rewards. The Shining Gems were a true gift. I did plenty of capturing and picked up Auron's sigil. I had his crest from back when. I got the Masamune and powered it up. It has first strike - a definate must.

I then captured a Bashura and started hunting for SOS Haste armors. I only needed them for a few people, but the SOS Hastes flowed like water, and everyone ended up with SOS Haste armors. I also Blitzed to get Attack Reels and I got Tidus Blitz Ace. Joy! I took on BFA.

Final Battle
I got everyone to 1 HP to activate my SOS Hastes and the first time I got him to his second form I got Sword Swipe'd (targets all party members), but the second time I pulled it off. Here's what my CTB looked like:

Tidus -> Talk
Auron -> Switch for Rikku
Rikku -> Use Shining Gem on Pagoda
Rikku -> Use Shining Gem on Pagoda
Yuna -> Switch for Wakka
Wakka -> Weapon Switch
Rikku -> Use Trio of 9999
Tidus -> Blitz Ace
Wakka -> Attack Reels (2x2x2)
BFA -> Jecht Beam on Tidus
BFA -> Jecht Beam on Wakka
Rikku -> Attack

VICTORY!

cheerful

current mood: cheerful
current song: Nothing

Bevelle Continued
So I filled up overdrives and went to go whip Seymour Nautus. I basically did two Sunbursts, the only problem was staying alive and not getting someone Shattered during the Break Phase. The Mortibody attacked Rikku and filled her overdrive up at the best (and last) possible moment and I mixed another Sunburst and took him down.

Macalania
Suteki da ne? Futari te wo tobi arukekanara. Ikitaiyo, kimi no machi ie mune no naka..

Calm Lands
Mostly stole stuff. Trained a chocobo for riding purposes only (no Sun Sigil -________-) and went to Remiem. Got the Cloudy Mirror and...my 30 Wings to Discovery =D

Defeated Defender X with To9+Fury (I know, I know -_-) and got the Rusty Sword. Went on to Mount Gagazet.

Gagazet
Sucked all the Ronso Rages off Biran and Yenke and killed them all easy-like with physical attacks. Went up Gagazet, lots of fun =,D Bought the targe with SOS Haste for Rikku and equipped it immediately. Went to face Flux. The first time around Flux nailed me because he HAD TO HIT RIKKU WITH FLARE and the second time around Rikku did her Mix thang with the Wings to Discovery and threw three Fire Gems. Yay! =D I did the trials of Gagazet and went on to Sanctuary Keeper. I had Rikku in her SOS Haste status, she threw a Chocobo Feather on Lulu, who promply used Fury.

For the record, I hate watching the Yuna sphere in all playthroughs after the first -___-

Zanarkand
"Listen to my story. This... may be our last chance."
I went along the Road to Zanarkand and got the treasures. My party is usually Tidus+First Strike, Wakka+Inititive, and Rikku+1HP+SOS Haste. It works like a charm. I got up to the Cloister and saved and quit for the night.
